Our History
While today Stafford Construction services any construction and home remodeling project in Galax VA, and Southwest Virginia, my history in construction extends back to my grandfather in Wisconsin.
Coming from Wisconsin, where a home shelters you from the bitter 40-below wind chills during winter and the sweltering heat in the summer, I learned two very important values when it comes to a home:
The first being the importance of a well-built home that can keep the elements out and the comfort in.
The second, that a home should be a place where you feel most comfortable and that is important that it looks, feels, and functions the way you want it to.
I didn’t realize, as a young boy, what a valuable lesson my grandfather was teaching me when I assisted him on some of his building projects.
My grandfather received his apprenticeship more than 50 years ago, in Milwaukee, WI and even though there were building codes set forth by the city, my grandfather seemed to have a building code above what he was taught.
He worked to improve upon it…to make it safer, stronger, longer-lasting, and for a competitive price.
That is the valuable lesson I learned from my grandfather. And since it worked so well for him, I decided that is what I want to do for every one of my customers.
